Painting response: The painting depicts what the contents of present-day newspapers emphasize: a) entertainment and brawls - as shown by the three hockey vignettes in the painting; b) angry, emotional harangues and outbreaks, as shown by the many repetitive shouting figures, and c) passions coupled with sensuality and beauty, as indicated by the almost tearful, beautiful woman in the center. The images suggest the nearly content-less materials to be found in the media, instead of reflective, informative news about important issues.
